NASA FL e-mail Newsletter Issue #2. August 9, 2005

Greetings NASA FL member and friends!

Thank you for giving us this opportunity to introduce you to the new e-mail newsletter that we will be using to inform you of upcoming NASA FL events and club activities.

Our first Newsletter was mailed about 2 weeks ago, but due to (as they say) "technical difficulties", it was sent to new subscribers only. Those of you who were included in our former "PDC Yahoo Groups email list" did not receive the first mailing, but as of this point you too are subscribed to the Newsletter.

We hope you will find the NASA FL Newsletter informative and enjoyable, but your participation is completely optional and you can "unsubscribe" at any time thru the link at the end of this message. Of course you are welcome to re-subscribe at any time. If your e-mail address changes in the future, just re-subscribe to this Newsletter via the link on the homepage of the NASA FL web site. 2+ hours of track time scheduled for solo drivers each day. We've made a real effort to come up with a schedule that provides as much track time as possible for our Moroso participants. By combining some HPDE groups we can provide some longer 30-40 minute track sessions. Drivers are always grouped according to skill and track experience to ensure safe and enjoyable conditions. Attn" Approved HPDE Instructors- We have students waiting and hoping we can take them off the "wait list" for Sept 3 & 4. If you can help us out either day please register via the online registration system as an "official". Please respond by August 12.

NEW! Starting at Moroso:

HPDE Participants will receive their HPDE car sticker by mail in advance of the event. This sticker will be included in the pre-event packet with your HPDE tech form and event info materials. The car sticker, which you will affix to your car's windshield, will identify the days you are registered and aid tech workers in checking your driver check in procedures. Look for your HPDE sticker and directions for proper placement in your event packet.

RACERS! Sept 3 & 4 Moroso. Register now! Continue your quest in the NASA FL 2005 regional points series! It's not too late for new participants to be competitive in our regional points battle. Race with NASA FL on Sept 3 & 4 for points and awards. A warmup session, a timed qualifiying session and a 30 min sprint race are offered each day. Awards ceremony held for podium finishers each day. Good stuff!

Announcing NASA FL's Fall 2005 Racer Recruitment campaign!!

How would you like a $100 discount off your HPDE or race entry fee this fall? Here's the deal. Many of you, especially those of you who are active racers, have friends and competitors that you know from other race sanctioning bodies like SCCA, PBOC, PCA, HSR etc. If you refer a new competitor to the NASA FL racing program division who meets the requirements to attain a NASA race license and who actively competes in NASA FL's racing division for the first time this fall, YOU will benefit by getting a $100 discount off your own entry fee. The racer your refer must be a new participant with NASA FL, must meet all NASA licensing and race car requirements, must be properly registered in advance of the event & pay the normal entry fee AND must identify you as their referral at the time of registration. Once the racer has competed in a NASA FL race event you will be eligible for the discount. Your $100 discount can be applied toward your own NASA FL race entry or your own HPDE entry for any NASA FL event up thru the end of 2005. This incentive is not applicable to TEAM LEADERS. This recruitment campaign starts August 10 and will be offered thru our December event at Homestead. Start recruiting and SAVE!

RACERS! Plan ahead for 2006 racing events with NASA FL.

NASA FL will break away from our 2005 "Enduro Classing" format starting in Jan 2006. All NASA approved race classes will be accepted for participation in FL region in 2006 EXCEPT "open wheel" classes. Five of the most popular NASA race series will be the focus of NASA FL in 2006.... Honda Challenge (HC), American Iron (AI, AIX, AIV), Spec Miata (SM), Viper-Vette Challenge (VVC) and German Touring Series Challenge (GTS). These are the series that have created the most "buzz" here in FL Region so far. Research these exciting series and make your plans to run the full 2006 race season with NASA FL. GET INVOLVED!

Volunteers are needed in so many areas! Check out the GET INVOLVED heading on the NASA FL web site. There are positions available that can add excitement and responsibility to those who want to help the club. No experience is necessary....only a willingness to help and learn NASA procedures. Contact us at least 7 days prior to an event and we'll arrange for you to assist an experienced person or official in the area of your interest. If you enjoy the experience you will be welcomed back for additional training. Get involved and have some fun as part of the growing NASA FL team!

Classified Ad Section??? Let us know...YEA or NAY

If you are interested in supporting a section of the NASA FL web site devoted to classified ads under topics such as resale Race Cars, Sports Cars, Sports Parts and

Race Related items.....let us know. To ensure a well managed classified ad program we would require a small fee for each post. However, those who support this service will benefit by knowing that their ad is being directed to a specialized market of "speed or racer related" customers. No, we do not intend to compete with E-Bay, but we can provide a format for NASA members to make other NASA members aware of speed related goods and services that are offered here in the FL community of motorsports.

We can also offer a "business card" format in the classified section that will run for 6 month period for a fee. Business card ads will be restricted to speed or track related items or services. Interested??? E-mail pdc@swfla.rr.com and simply respond YEA or NAY. One response per person please! If we get enough YEA's by August 30 to support the idea we'll follow up with details in the next Newsletter!
